Chapter 62 - HIBI

Yuna had a hard time getting used to Eunho’s appearance. She remembered the first time she met him. He appeared out of nowhere and he seemed mysterious. In all of her lifetimes, she had never met anyone more beautiful than he was. She was an ugly duckling compared to his beauty.

There were a few things she noticed about him. Although he seemed cold and distant, she noticed that he seemed to genuinely care about her. They hadn’t known each other for long, but oddly, she felt like they’d known each other for much longer. She also liked that he didn’t act like a boy his age.

It was extremely difficult trying to spend time with kids. She couldn’t understand their logic because she had already lived two other lives. Eunho seemed to act more like an adult. She wondered what could possibly have happened for him to be so different from other kids.

Did he maybe have siblings back home that needed for him to grow up fast? She went through all the memories and encounters with Eunho. She remembered talking to Eunho about his past when they first met. Eunho didn’t like talking about his past. It seemed that talking about his parents only made him upset. He didn’t seem to have any parental figure to guide him.

Yuna oddly felt the need to protect him. She knew that he was more than capable of protecting himself. He was a strong martial artist, and she didn’t need to protect him from any harm. What she wanted to protect wasn’t his life, but his own self. She knew what it was like. She was constantly beating herself up over things that were out of her control.

It seemed that Eunho was also struggling with the same thing. His parents weren’t there for him and it seemed that he was beating himself up over it. Yuna didn’t want him to feel the same emotions that she had felt. She wasted a whole lifetime feeling this way. She doubted herself on many occasions.

She wondered if maybe it was her fault that no one truly cared about her. It could’ve been that she wasn’t adequate enough for anyone to care about her. The man she had loved wasn’t interested and the cousin she thought was her best friend was not really a friend at all. She had no control over their feelings. Over time she realized that none of this was in her control. The only thing she could do was control herself and what she wanted in life. Yuna realized that no matter how much she wanted someone to like her and to care for her, it wasn’t in her control.

Eunho seemed to be in the same predicament. She didn’t know how to talk about his parents without him getting upset. The only thing she could do was wait for him to open up to her. She wasn’t going to force him to talk about his past. She wanted to wait till he was ready.

Eunho seemed to be a good person, but there was also a time when she was disappointed in him. He seemed to believe that females aren’t meant to learn martial arts. Yuna was determined to prove him wrong. Yuna had a hard time figuring out why she felt so disappointed and why she also felt the need to protect him. She couldn’t figure out what their relationship was either.

She didn’t want to be a sister to him, nor did she want to be considered his lover. It was hard for Yuna to understand what their relationship was. He wasn’t necessarily a stranger, but he wasn’t really a friend. What was their relationship?

Yuna didn’t realize that she was gazing into his eyes in silence for a long time. She was too busy thinking about what their relationship was to notice her own behavior. Eunho was also in a similar state. He was lost in thought when he gazed into her eyes. Yuna’s eyes sparked with hope each time he stared into them. Most people would think that Yuna wasn’t a beauty. She looked average to everyone, but Eunho thought differently. The first thing he always noticed were her eyes.

The eyes are the window to the soul. He didn’t remember where he heard the quote from, but he felt that this quote was true when it came to Yuna. Her eyes revealed her spirit and her strength. He gradually began to love everything about her.

She wasn’t a national beauty that could topple cities, she was a normal girl. She normally didn’t wear any make up and she didn’t smell strongly of perfume. He found her to be naturally beautiful in her own way. Her strengths made her more beautiful to him.

While both of them were lost in thought gazing into each other’s eyes, Yuna came to her senses. She was definitely caught checking him out. She poked his shoulder and said, “Why don’t you sit over here?” She got up and scooted over on the bench.

He quickly sat next to her and directed his gaze towards the pond. When she noticed that he was sitting down comfortably, she said, “I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to go on a short walk. I ended up here. Don’t you think it’s beautiful?” Eunho naturally didn’t pay much attention to the scenery, but he noticed once she pointed it out. He remembered walking through the garden on many occasions. He was always visiting the general’s household for training during his last lifetime and this lifetime. This was the first time he encountered Yuna in the garden.

He was always looking around to see if she was there. Sadly, she was cooped up in her own bedroom or study. He never had the chance to meet her. He responded to her question after watching the moon and stars reflect its magnificence on the surface, “You’re right. It’s beautiful.” Yuna smiled brightly at him when she heard his response, “Have you ever wondered if there were other worlds out there?”

Eunho never thought about the possibility. He shrugged, “I haven’t really thought about it much. If there were other worlds out there, I wouldn’t want to visit them.” Yuna asked, “How come?” Eunho didn’t want to tell her the real reason. He had no place anywhere else, but beside her. As long as she was in this world, he would also be there.

He chose to respond to her question with a more natural response, “I don’t know anything about another world and why would I be interested in it, if I’m okay living in this one?” Yuna shrugged, “Who knows. Maybe there might be worlds out there that have magic in them. Wouldn’t you be interested? I would.” Eunho asked, “Magic? What’s that?”

Yuna answered, “Magic is something that most people wish for. Magic is a supernatural way to solve problems that are impossible to solve. Can you imagine being able to make fire appear with just your thoughts? Wouldn’t that be amazing?” Eunho was amazed by the things that Yuna thought up. He never imagined the possibility.

He stated, “Although that would be pretty amazing, I don’t really wish for that ability.” Yuna laughed, “I’m sure it wouldn’t matter to you since you’re strong and all. You wouldn’t need something like magic.” He blushed when she complimented him, “I’m not all that strong. Your father is stronger.”

Yuna had no clue whether her father was stronger or if he was. She had witnessed Eunho’s abilities and her father’s, but she couldn’t tell who was stronger. She was sure that her father was stronger, because her father was the one that trained him. She replied, “Maybe you should spar with him for old times sake? I heard that he trained you.” Eunho agreed, “Maybe I should. It’s been a while since we sparred.”

Yuna imagined how much attention they would get if they were sparring. The two war heroes battling it out would attract attention from everyone. Namjoo would surely be the first one in line to see them sparring. The two legends would cause an uproar from their devoted fans. She would like to see who would win.
