Yuna’s progress was slow when it came to building up endurance and stamina. What did she expect? Exercise wasn’t her strong suit and it was nearly impossible for her to accomplish her goal. Her goal entailed being able to follow Eunho’s training regimen to the T. How was she ever going to show Eunho that she wasn’t just some princess that needs protecting.
The soldiers weren’t enthusiastic about her training alongside them. Most expected her to call it quits and go back to her daily life of being a noble lady. Each time she overheard their mockery and criticism, she would bite her lips and restrain her anger. It wasn’t the right time for her to argue with them. Especially since there wasn’t much progress in her training.
She failed the first day of training because she caught a cold. She was ashamed of herself for not being able to prove to them that she was capable of much more regardless of her gender. It wasn’t an easy task. She was disappointed in herself for thinking that it was going to be easy.
She almost forgot how difficult it was for a normal person to become successful in anything. She was able to easily succeed in her past life because god gave her a cool ability. Now that she didn’t have anything special to help her, she had no clue what to do. She quickly noticed that the soldiers around her were much stronger than her and they were much more experienced. They must’ve trained throughout their whole life. How was she ever going to catch up to them? Namjoo was also a thousand times stronger than her.
The soldiers were lined up perfectly in rows while General Eunho instructed them on their next task. Yuna stood among them at the very end of the row. She was able to easily hide from Eunho because of her small body. The tall and muscular men obstructed her view.
Once everyone finished lining up, Eunho informed everyone about today’s task. His assertive voice echoed throughout the courtyard, “Today’s training will be right here in this courtyard. We will not be running in the forest. Although you’re not running, it doesn’t mean that today will be an easy day.”
The soldiers sighed in unison. They were expecting today to be an easy day especially since Lady Yuna just recovered from her cold. The news that they weren’t running made them happy, but they didn’t expect that Eunho would have something else planned for them.
They attentively watched Eunho with expectation. They hoped that it wasn’t going to be ‘Hell’s Training’ once again. They unintentionally recalled the hellish training they experienced not too long ago. When Eunho first became General, no one expected the kid to be so strong and domineering.
None of them listened to him and they thought it would be easy to neglect their training. They were happy to find out that a little kid was going to become the general. Their hopes were crushed into the mud when they discovered Eunho’s true nature. Eunho beat them all up into a pulp and none of them were allowed to rest a single day.
Eunho was extremely disappointed in their strength. None of them were able to properly hold a sword and their martial arts were elementary at best. That was when ‘Hell’s Training’ began. None of them were given time to rest. Eunho made sure that every single one of the soldiers were whipped into shape.
Although they were reluctant to train at first, they slowly grew used to Eunho’s training. All of them thought that things were going to become easier from then on. It wasn’t until later that they discovered that Eunho would always find new things for them to do. His training regimen never remained the same. His hellish training was neverending.
Eunho declared, “I know you are all curious about what training we will do today, but unfortunately, I will not tell you what we have today until I find out what level everyone is at currently. I want all of you to spar against each other one on one. The winner will continue to fight the next opponent until they lose. The person that remains last will be the winner.”
One of the soldiers asked, “Will the winner get a reward?” Eunho glared menacingly at him for interrupting. The soldier began to shake from fear, but Eunho didn’t retract his glare. He angrily shouted, “Who told you to interrupt me? Go run around the courtyard 10 times, NOW!” The soldier quickly began sprinting towards the outer layer of the courtyard.
Eunho continued, “There will be no reward. I believe that winning should be a reward in itself. The winner should feel proud of their accomplishment. There will also be no punishment for the losers.” Yuna sighed in relief. She would definitely be punished for being last place. She wasn’t hoping to win the sparring match today, but she hoped that she could at least land a punch or two.
Eunho began explaining the rules, “This spar will be simple since there are people that haven’t learned any martial arts as of yet. There will be a couple rules that need to be followed during sparring. No using weapons and that includes any gear that can amplify your abilities.”
Yuna raised an eyebrow. Was there such a thing? She never thought that this world would have any magical item that could amplify one's abilities. Was this world supposed to be a magical fantasy world? She wondered if she had missed something throughout the entire time that she lived in this world.
Eunho continued, “Sparring will continue until one person is unconscious or if the opponent surrenders. I will also make sure to step in to stop the sparring if it becomes too dangerous. Keep in mind that this is a simple sparring match to determine your rank. If I see any of you cheating in any way, you will be disqualified.”
