Chapter 76 - HIBI

There were veins forming on Minho’s forehead as the time spent waiting grew excruciatingly long. He could not wait any longer. He roared at the guards, “What the h*ll is taking so long? I was here for an hour and the guard hasn’t come back! Since the other guard isn’t back yet, I’m assuming that he has decided to betray you. I guess that means your life has no meaning to your friend.”

Minho shouted at his personal servant, “Bring my sword, right now!” The servant bowed, “Understood, your majesty.” The servant went to the palanquin and brought out his sword. Minho snatched the sword from his hands and promptly took the scabbard off. The sword swiftly landed on the guard’s neck.

He felt the cold sharp blade cut a layer of his skin. A tiny bit of blood dripped down his neck. He shivered in fright at the man that held his life in his hands. He could not die. He still had so much he had to do in life. The guard frantically begged, “Please, spare me. I have a wife and kids. If I die, who will take care of them. I’ll do anything that you ask, so please just don’t kill me.”

Minho smirked, “That’s more like it. I should’ve done this from the start.” Minho didn’t bother with the guard’s plea. He lifted the sword overhead and sliced his neck cleanly. The blood splattered all over his clothes and face. Once the guard was taken care of, he threw the sword on the floor.

He demanded, “Clean the blood off the sword and put it away. Make sure you get rid of the body without leaving any traces. Throw the body in the lake nearby. I also need a new set of clothes to wear. I cannot appear before Lady Yuna with all this blood staining my clothes.” The servants obediently followed his command without further instruction.

Minho loved the feeling of power coursing through his veins. He enjoyed putting people in their place. The guards at the Kim Residence have long been getting on his nerves. There were countless times when he was rejected at the doorway. He was humiliated for far too long. A huge grin formed on his face when he recalled the fear in the guard’s eye.

Once he gains more power, he’ll be able to enjoy more of this feeling. Those who made fun of him would all be begging for their life. The very first person he wanted to get rid of was his first brother, Jimin. Once he’s out of the way, his father would go next. He had it all planned out meticulously.

Sun went back to her lab and took out her collection of needles and medical tools. She made sure to bring all the proper tools to draw blood. Sun had been experimenting with all different types of plants, she was confident in her ability to find out what type of poison was in Yuna’s body.

Once she returned to Yuna’s bedroom, she discovered that General Eunho was no longer there. She asked the maid, “Where did General Eunho go?” The maid pointed outside, “There seems to be a guest waiting for him at the entrance. He left not too long ago.” He must’ve had something important to do.

The maid seemed to have nothing better to do. She was standing idly by Yuna’s bed. There was something suspicious about her behavior. Sun had a sinking feeling in her stomach when she saw the maid’s attentive gaze. What was the maid doing while there was no one in the bedroom? Sun could not pinpoint what it was. She could not accuse her of anything without proof.

General Eunho must have suspected something earlier. He wasn’t comfortable with the maid listening in on their conversation. Sun decided to lay low for now. They had no clue what her real identity was, and it could further exasperate the situation if she knew that they were suspicious of her.

Sun could not understand why the maid chose to tell her about Yuna’s condition. Yuna’s mother and father didn’t know what was going on at this moment. Sun couldn’t figure out what the maid’s intention was, but that would have to wait for a later time. Sun did not have much time before the poison would leave her system. She needed to act quickly and investigate what type of poison was in her body.

Sun made sure that her expression was as normal as possible, “I would like to be alone with Lady Yuna for a bit. Could you leave the room?” The maid bowed obediently, “Yes, Miss Sun. I’ll be right outside the door if you need me.” Sun nodded and waited till the maid shut the door to begin.

After examining Yuna’s body, Sun was able to easily determine what type of symptoms Yuna was having. Yuna’s breathing was uneven. This was an indication that her stamina and endurance were reduced greatly by the poisoning. She saw the dark circles under her eyes and noticed how thin Yuna was.

Yuna is currently 12 years old, and she still looks much younger. There were only a few plants that could cause Yuna to remain looking younger. Sun recalled hearing about a flower that made women look younger. At first, they were enthralled with the mystical flower that could make older women look much younger than their age.

The only problem with it was that soon these women started to grow thin, and they hardly had enough energy to do menial tasks. One of the women had just gotten married and she was attempting to have a child with her husband. She soon discovered that she could not have any children. She was infertile. She went to a renown doctor and discovered that the cause of all her suffering was because of the flower she had consumed.

Sun suspected that this flower may be the poison. She had a clue about what the poison could be, but she still had no clue who could be behind the poisoning. Just by examining the symptoms she could tell that the poison wasn’t meant to be deadly. Whoever poisoned Yuna, didn’t have the intention to kill her. They might be preventing her from giving birth to children in the future because of her background.

Many families want Yuna to be married into their families because her father is a famous General and Minister. There was no way there would be anyone that could pass up this opportunity. The person that poisoned her must be someone that does not want to see Yuna marry into any good families. With all that she knew, she still could not find anyone that had that much hatred towards Yuna.

Sun stopped thinking about the culprit for now and checked Yuna’s arm for her vein. She directly inserted the needle into Yuna’s tiny arm. Blood flowed into the needle slowly. Once it was filled, Sun put the blood into a test tube. She closed the lid to the tube and put it in her hidden pocket on the inside of her hanbok jacket. She decided to get another sample of her blood just in case anything went wrong with her investigation.

Just as she inserted the needle a second time, she heard a shout from outside the door. She wondered what was going on outside. The door was smashed open, and she could see a tall and enormous male with servant clothing standing in the doorway. She shouted, “What’s going on? What are you doing in Lady Yuna’s bedroom without permission?” The servant did not answer her and stood to the side to make way for someone important.
