Chapter 77 - HIBI

Sun’s eyes grew wide with shock. How was he here? Anger boiled inside her when she saw the man that had murdered her entire family and every single friend she ever had. Her hands were clenched, and her face grew red with fury. His smug look when walking into Yuna’s bedroom made her want to tear him apart.

Tears formed in her eyes when she remembered the faces of everyone she cared about. She wasn’t able to say goodbye to any of them. Sun had no special attachment to her country because no one was willing to help her when her family was murdered. She was appalled by the disgusting truth about her country. Nothing mattered to them more than money and their own lives.

The royal family was filled with cowards that were willing to sacrifice their own citizens to save their own necks. Sun’s family was extremely loyal to the royal family. Her father carried the position of grand duke. He had the highest position in regard to every noble in the land. Her family was prosperous, and they had a bright future ahead of them. Who would have thought that her family would become the target of everyone including the King of Ezra.

The war had gone on for a very long time and the King of Ezra soon grew anxious. The Kingdom of Guwon was growing stronger day by day. General Junho was the key player that swept the battlefield with his amazing tactics.

None of the Generals in Ezra were able to keep up with General Junho. The King of Ezra feared that their days were outnumbered. He did not want his kingdom to fall to the hands of Guwon. The only option he had was to surrender. He instructed his most loyal subject, Jonathon Harris (Sun’s father) to go to the kingdom of Guwon with a copy of the peace treaty.

The King trusted Sun’s father greatly and he believed that the war would end successfully. Sun’s father was a kind man that knew how to interact with many. His social network reached around the globe, and many admired him for his beliefs. He was especially great at creating connections with people regardless of their status. The King believed that Jonathon would be able to end the war without any resentment between the two countries.

Jonathon Harris was special. Many people grew to admire Jonathon for his righteous views. His land was filled with prosperity and none of the people living within his territory had anything to complain about. He also had a personality that brought smiles to those around him. Sun loved her father and admired him. She never thought the last time she would see him was when he left for the Kingdom of Guwon.

Sun didn’t know the full details of what happened, but she knew that the person that caused her father’s death was Prince Minho. Her father had offended the second prince during their talks of peace. The Kingdom of Guwon changed the contents of the peace treaty.

They demanded Jonathon’s head and his wife’s head. They wanted any of Jonathon’s children to be sent over as a war-slave. In addition to this, they wanted a large amount of gold and many war-slaves be sent over to the Kingdom of Guwon. In order for the war to truly end, they also wanted to put a ban on all Ezraen’s from entering Guwon land except for the slaves.

The King of Ezra naturally agreed to this arrangement. The King didn’t even bat an eye when his most loyal subject was killed in a foreign country. The only thing that he wanted was for the war to end. One measly little subject was nothing to him and the only thing that mattered to him was keeping his kingdom safe and protecting his own family. Immediately after Jonathon’s death, his wife followed him. Sun was captured and sent off to the country of Guwon.

Once Sun arrived at the border of Guwon, she was brought to a single tent away from the rest of the war-slaves. Prince Minho stood inside the tent with an evil grin forming slowly on his lips. He was satisfied with his father for allowing Jonathon to die a gruesome death. He couldn’t wait to see his daughter.

Once Sun entered the tent, Prince Minho turned around and took a good look at her. Sun was beautiful and her long blonde hair reached her waist. He would have liked her if he wasn’t so prejudiced against foreigners. He preferred Asian women. He disliked that the girl before him was Ezraen.

He had always despised Ezraens since he was young. His father instilled the belief that Ezraen’s worshipped a god that was similar to demons. Minho wasn’t a religious person, and he didn’t care much about that fact. He only started to despise Ezraens once he found his true passion in life.

When he was younger, he learned that his father did not love him like the rest of his brothers and sisters. He was always compared to Prince Jimin and everything he did was considered unfilial or undeserving of love. He tried everything to become the favorite son, but nothing worked.

There were hardly any Ezraens in the Kingdom of Guwon. The few that lived in Guwon weren’t very successful and they lived in poverty. There was a day when he discovered an Ezraen child wandering the streets. At first, he was curious about him. The child had blond hair and blue eyes. It was unlike everyone else.

Minho befriended the Ezraen and brought him into the palace. After playing with him for a bit, he was discovered by his father. His father was furious that he brought an Ezraen into the palace. Minho discovered that his father had a deep ingrained hatred for Ezraens. This hatred was something he had never seen in his father. He thought his father hated him the most in the world, but that wasn’t true. His father hated Ezraens more than him!

The instant he discovered this; his mind grew twisted. He discovered a way to gain his father’s love. He could share something with his father – the hatred for Ezraens. The target of hatred was soon shifted from him to the Ezraen boy. Minho decided to betray the new friend he made.

He told his father, “I brought the boy into the palace for a different purpose. Please don’t misunderstand me, father. You’ve taught me that Ezraens worship the devil and that they are all evil. I have instilled your teachings into my heart. I would not do something stupid as to bring the boy here as a friend.”

For the first time in his life, his father smiled at him. It was clear to him that his father was proud of him. Minho proved to his father that he also despised Ezraens. He beat up the Ezraen boy so badly that no one was able to recognize him. Minho made sure to break his bones and scar him for life.

After this incident, he soon discovered the joys of having power over people. He enjoyed the power he had over those that were weaker than him. He enjoyed seeing the Ezraen boy struggle for his life. Minho’s mind slowly grew twisted day after day. He grew to enjoy watching those weaker than him suffer. This was the first time he enjoyed something in his life.
Author's Note: I decided to write an extra chapter for everyone since it's the weekend:) This chapter is kind of dark. I hope it's interesting. I decided to write a bit about Minho's past and Sun's past. I thought I'd let everyone know a bit more about how Minho became the person he is.
